– THE PINNACLES –
The raw material for the limestone of the Pinnacles came from seashells formed around 500,000 years ago when shallow seas covered the area.
About 25,000 years ago the sea receded and these shells were broken down into lime-rich sands that were blown inland to form high mobile dunes.
